In affiliate marketing and internet marketing there is a saying “the money is in the list”. While you can make good consistent income without an active mailing list it is far more difficult. Using a “landing page” to entice visitors to “optin” to your mailing list gives you a pool of people who have already said “I’m interested, tell me more”. One of the best ways to start getting a list started is through well structured “landing pages” and free offers that entice visitors to leave their email address.
Also known as the “squeeze page” or “capture page”, you can start building your mailing list by funneling all of your would-be subscribers through a “landing page” and giving them a chance and a reason to optin to your mailing list. Essentially you will make an offer on your home page, blog post, classified ad, Youtube video and when they click the link they are sent to your “optin form”. A really nice thing about landing pages is that you only do you do the work once, your traffic driving efforts can be focused towards just one highly effective method.
The following are tips in creating a successful landing page that converts visitors into subscribers on a very huge percentage.
Success Tip 1: Offer a freebie in exchange for your visitor’s email address. I very much endorse this method of building your mailing list. Some ideas to

Success Tip 2: If you are creating an ‘optin’ landing page make is attractive by using nature backgrounds. Make the offer short and to the point. Tell them what you want to give them, how it will benefit them and what you need in exchange. BOOM! Straight forward, clean and simple.
Success Tip 3: Other than your opt-in form and perhaps important disclaimers and terms, there shouldn’t be any other links on your landing page. (save additional links and ‘up sales’ for the ‘thank you page‘.)
Success Tip 4: If you choose to a heavily worded landing page then push the benefits of the freebie you are offering more than a mere subscription to your newsletter. Drive your reader to your free offer. Later, you gently remind your prospect that he or she has nothing to pay but just merely subscribe to your newsletter in exchange for the freebie.
A final couple of notes for your landing page:
Make sure they receive a ‘thank you’ email that includes a download link for your free offer in case they didn’t make it to the ‘thank you page’.
If they ‘optin’ for your free offer send them to a ‘thank you page’ that is also clear and inviting.
If they choose not to ‘optin’ sent them to a consolation page with a different ‘optin’ offer.
